“The Roots Remember”
The Thornhollow is one of the oldest forest pockets in the Western Crownlands, a tangle of ancient roots, moss‑choked stones, and half‑forgotten paths where the Forest Folk keep their long vigil. For centuries, the Thornhollow has remained quiet—watchful, patient, and slow to anger.
That changed the moment the Pale Hand orcs crossed its borders.
Driven by orders from their unseen masters, the Pale Hand warband pushed into the forest seeking a shortcut toward the Horselord frontier. Their captain, Ugrot the Pale‑Marked, believed the woods to be empty. He was wrong.
The orcs’ desecration began small—felled saplings, trampled glades, a sacred spring polluted by their cookfires. But Thornhollow is not merely a forest. It is a living memory, and the Treefolk feel every wound like a bruise on their own skin.
When the orcs dragged two halfling captives through the glen, the forest finally stirred.
Roots shifted. Bark cracked. Eyes opened in the dark.
The Treefolk of Thornhollow rose—not out of rage alone, but out of duty. The halflings had shown kindness to their elder, and the forest remembers kindness as sharply as it remembers harm.

ENCOUNTER LORE
The Thornhollow is one of the last untouched forest sanctuaries in the Western Crownlands—a living maze of ancient roots, whispering canopies, and moss‑draped stones where the Treefolk Guardians keep their silent watch. For generations, the forest has remained undisturbed, its magic deep and slow, its protectors patient as the seasons.
That peace ends the moment the Pale Hand Orcs cross the treeline.
