Narrative Beat
The Spiderswarms poured out of the underbrush with unsettling enthusiasm—an impressive moment slightly spoiled when one goblin handler proudly announced he had “named all of them,” prompting immediate concern from everyone else.

Lore

Spiderswarms are the Gloomwood’s most feared natural denizens: clusters of enchanted forest spiders guided (loosely) by goblin handlers who claim to “speak fluent spider.” These creatures thrive in the deep woods, feeding on glowing mushrooms, arcane sap, and anything foolish enough to wander too close.

Their bodies shimmer with faint bioluminescence, their legs move with eerie coordination, and their venom carries hints of forest magic—causing effects that range from paralysis to mild hallucinations. Goblins revere them as both pets and weapons, often decorating them with tiny vine‑charms or fungal beads.

They embody classic forest‑spider swarms, beast‑pack disruption units, and chaotic ambush creatures, giving the Gloomwood a terrifying melee‑control option.

Tactical Role

Spiderswarms serve as fast, disruptive melee beasts, excelling at:

  • Ambushing enemies from dense terrain

  • Tying down elite units with swarm pressure

  • Applying venom‑based debuffs

  • Supporting Warriors, Longlegs, and Weavers with shock disruption

Commanders field them when they need beast‑pack control, forest‑themed ambush units, or high‑pressure melee swarms across any fantasy system.
