Narrative Beat
They’re so catastrophically altered that even the chem‑wastes file them under “environmental hazards".

Lore

Ogre Men are the heaviest shock element of Colonel Saratov’s Punishment Battalion — convicts who were already massive, violent, and barely controllable before decades of chemical exposure, industrial contamination, and frontier mutations turned them into something far worse.

These aren’t engineered supersoldiers. They’re the natural byproduct of living too long in the sector’s toxic slums, chem‑waste pits, and industrial runoff zones. Their bodies have grown beyond human norms: swollen musculature, reinforced bone structures, thickened dermal plating, and the kind of brute strength that makes doors, barricades, and occasionally armored vehicles reconsider their purpose.

Most Ogre Men stand a head taller than standard Penal Legion troops, with hunched silhouettes, scar‑etched skin, and respirators strapped over faces that no longer pass for human. Their voices are gravel, their movements heavy, and their aggression barely contained by explosive collars — which must be reinforced, because standard collars have a habit of not surviving the neck.

Their equipment is whatever fits: oversized melee weapons, scavenged industrial tools, heavy pipes, rusted cleavers, and occasionally a ballistic weapon if they manage to “acquire” one. Armor is patchwork plating ripped from scrap yards or torn off fallen enemies. Saratov doesn’t bother issuing standardized gear; he simply points them at a target and expects results.

Veterans — the ones who survive multiple assaults — sometimes earn reduced collar restrictions. Most don’t live long enough for the privilege.

Tactical Role
Ogre Men serve as brutal shock infantry and breach‑crash units. They excel in smashing through fortifications, overwhelming enemy lines with raw force, and causing panic simply by existing.
A commander fields them when the battle requires catastrophic impact — the kind delivered by convicts who have become more weapon than man.
