Chivalric Kingdoms — Knights Retainers

Knights Retainers are the sworn household soldiers of the Chivalric Kingdoms — disciplined warriors who serve noble houses, knightly orders, and royal courts. They are not full knights, but they train beside them, march with them, and often die in the same glorious (and occasionally ill‑advised) charges.

Their armor is sturdy but practical: polished steel, reinforced leather, and heraldic cloth marking their allegiance. Their weapons vary by household tradition — arming swords, spears, shields, halberds, or short‑axes — all maintained with obsessive care. Some retainers carry relic‑blessed gear passed down through generations; others wield newly forged blades from the Dawnspire forges.

Retainers embody the Chivalric Kingdoms’ identity in discipline, loyalty, and honorable battlefield cohesion.

Knights Retainers excel in frontline support, disciplined melee, defensive formations, and knight‑synergy, making them indispensable for commanders who rely on structured ranks and heroic charges.

Use them to:

• Hold objectives while knights maneuver

• Anchor infantry lines with shield discipline

• Support cavalry with spear‑walls

• Guard heroes and standards

• Form the backbone of any chivalric warhost

They turn a knightly army from “heroic” into “heroic and actually supported.”
