Gothic Undead — Ghouls

The Ghouls are the Gothic Undead’s feral corpse‑eaters, once human but long since twisted by necromantic corruption, cannibal rites, and centuries spent scavenging the dead. Their bodies are gaunt and contorted, skin stretched tight over bone, claws elongated into grave‑talons, and mouths filled with jagged teeth stained by centuries of feasting.

Unlike skeletal infantry or spectral horrors, Ghouls retain a warped semblance of instinct — a predatory cunning that makes them terrifying shock troops. They lurk in crypts, mausoleums, and charnel pits, emerging only when commanded by Necromancers or drawn by the scent of fresh blood. Their loyalty is simple: they serve those who feed them, and they fight with frenzied devotion for the promise of the next corpse.

Legends claim some Ghoul packs were once noble families cursed for ancient crimes, doomed to hunger forever. Others were grave‑robbers who dug too deep into forbidden tombs. All share the same fate: eternal hunger, eternal servitude, eternal horror.

Ghouls act as fast, aggressive melee infantry, ideal for:

• Swarming vulnerable targets with sheer numbers

• Harassing flanks and screening heavier undead units

• Charging into melee with frenzied attacks

• Holding objectives through relentless regeneration

• Overrunning isolated heroes or artillery crews

Commanders field Ghouls when they need a vicious, expendable, and terrifying melee unit capable of overwhelming foes through speed and feral brutality.
