Narrative Beat
The Apprentice Assassins emerged from the shadows with great dramatic flair—an achievement slightly diminished by the fact that two of them immediately tripped over each other trying to look mysterious.
Lore
Apprentice Assassins are the fledgling killers of the Ratfolk Warrens, eager initiates trained in the art of stealth, speed, and opportunistic stabbing. Known for darting through cracks, slipping behind shields, and striking with improvised daggers and poison‑needles, they embody classic ratfolk assassin units, fantasy tunnel infiltrators, and subterranean skirmish operatives. Their enthusiasm often outpaces their precision, but in the Warrens, even half‑trained assassins are dangerously effective.
Tactical Role
Apprentice Assassins function as light skirmish infiltrators, excelling at harassment, flanking, and picking off vulnerable targets before vanishing back into the tunnels. Their speed and low profile make them ideal for ambushes, objective disruption, and morale‑breaking flank pressure. Commanders field them when they need cheap assassin screens, ratfolk stealth units, or fast tunnel skirmishers across any fantasy system.
