Description

Narrative Beat

The Goblin Archers lined up beneath a stalactite with great ceremony—an impressive moment slightly spoiled when one loosed an arrow straight upward and everyone scattered before gravity delivered its verdict.

Lore

Under Mountain Goblin Archers are the ranged specialists of the deep tribes, trained to shoot in cramped tunnels, echoing caverns, and winding passages where angles are strange and lighting is optional. Their bows are carved from cavern‑root wood, their arrows tipped with jagged stone or fungus‑hardened barbs, and their aim… optimistic.

These archers embody classic cave‑goblin ranged units, subterranean skirmish shooters, and light harassment infantry, providing the Under Mountain faction with much‑needed ranged pressure. They excel at firing from behind stalagmites, cliff edges, and narrow cracks that only goblins would consider “comfortable firing positions.”

Their gear is lightweight, their quivers mismatched, and their tactics revolve around shooting first, shooting again, and then bragging about whichever shot actually hit something.

Tactical Role

Goblin Archers serve as mobile ranged skirmishers, excelling at:

Harassing enemy lines from cavern cover
Supporting Swordmen and Skirmishers with ranged pressure
Softening targets before Mountain Troll charges
Ambushing from elevated cavern ledges and tunnel mouths

Commanders field them when they need cheap ranged support, subterranean bow units, or fast ambush shooters across any fantasy system.

The Goblin Archers loosed a volley of stone‑tipped arrows—some hitting enemies, some hitting cavern walls, and one hitting a goblin who immediately declared it “a tactical warning shot” and demanded a medal.
