Description

Narrative Beat

The Skirmishers slipped out of the shadows with unsettling ease—an impressive moment slightly spoiled when one loudly whispered, “We are invisible,” while standing directly under a torch.

Lore

Under Mountain Goblin Skirmishers are the nimble, sharp‑eyed scouts of the deep caverns. Born in twisting tunnels and raised on fungus rations, they excel at navigating tight spaces, scaling jagged rock faces, and vanishing into cracks that no sensible creature would attempt to fit through.

Armed with jagged blades, thrown‑stone slings, and crude crossbows scavenged from unlucky surface dwellers, these goblins embody classic cave‑scout infantry, subterranean ambushers, and light harassment troops. Their gear is lightweight, their movements quick, and their tactics revolve around striking first, retreating fast, and bragging loudly afterward.

They are the eyes and ears of the Under Mountain tribes—though often distracted by shiny rocks.

Tactical Role

Skirmishers serve as fast harassment infantry, excelling at:

Ambushing enemies in tight cavern terrain
Hit‑and‑run attacks with thrown weapons or light bows
Screening Mountain Trolls and heavier infantry
Flanking through tunnels other units can’t navigate

Commanders field them when they need mobile scouts, light ranged pressure, or subterranean ambush specialists across any fantasy system.
