Wilds of Avalon — Formian Chariots

The Formians do not race—they surge, carried by living engines that thunder across the forest floor like the heartbeat of the mound itself.

Lore

The Formian Chariots are the mobile war‑platforms of the Wilds of Avalon: insectoid, ley‑woven constructs pulled by massive Boar‑Beasts of the Root Warrens, creatures bred in the crystalline caverns beneath Avalon’s oldest groves. Each chariot is a fusion of living chitin, grown timber, and resin‑forged harnesses that resonate with the hive‑mind chorus.

Formian drivers stand atop the platform in ritual armor, their multi‑eyed helms linked to the Boar‑Beasts through pheromone‑chants and crystalline reins. The chariot frames are reinforced with fae‑grown latticework, while the wheels—if they can be called wheels—are segmented chitin rings that flex and grip the forest floor with unnatural precision.

In battle, Formian Chariots thunder forward as shock‑skirmishers, smashing through enemy lines, scattering infantry, and delivering warriors directly into the heart of conflict. Their arrival is heralded by the rhythmic clicking of chitin, the roar of the Boar‑Beasts, and the shimmering ley‑light that trails behind them.

Tactical Role

Formian Chariots serve as fast attack units, specializing in:

• Shock Charges — breaking formations with mass, momentum, and tusk‑driven impact

• Rapid Deployment — delivering Formian Warriors or elite hive‑guards into critical positions

• Flank Pressure — sweeping around enemy lines to disrupt archers and artillery

• Forest Maneuvering — navigating dense terrain with uncanny stability thanks to chitin‑flex wheels

• Hive‑Mind Coordination — chariots operate in pairs or triads, striking in synchronized patterns

They are the Wilds of Avalon’s answer to cavalry: primal, magical, and terrifyingly efficient.
