Mounted Squires are the young nobles, sworn trainees, and aspirant retainers who serve knightly houses and chivalric orders. They are not yet knights — but they ride beside them, learn from them, and occasionally save them from situations involving dragons, duels, or questionable tactical enthusiasm.
Their armor is lighter than that of full knights: polished half‑plate, reinforced leather, and heraldic cloth marking their household or order. Their destriers are sturdy but not yet barded in full plate — trained for speed, maneuverability, and battlefield reliability.
Mounted Squires embody the Chivalric Kingdoms’ identity in honor‑in‑training, disciplined enthusiasm, and noble battlefield support.
Mounted Squires excel in light cavalry duties, flanking support, formation screening, and knight‑synergy, making them indispensable for commanders who rely on mobility and structured battlefield coordination.
Use them to:
-
Screen Elite or Realm Knights during charges
-
Harass enemy skirmishers
-
Secure objectives with disciplined mobility
-
Support Pegasus Knights with ground‑level maneuvering
-
Form the flexible backbone of a knightly cavalry wing
They turn a chivalric army from “heroic” into “heroic with interns who are surprisingly competent.”
