The Dire Wolves burst from the fog with the savage certainty of beasts who believed the night itself had chosen them — and every living thing was merely prey waiting to be claimed.
The Dire Wolves are the Gothic Undead’s feral shock beasts, raised from ancient burial pits and bound to necromantic will. Their bodies are a grotesque fusion of skeletal remains, rotted muscle, and cursed marrow, animated by the cold hunger of the grave. Hollow eye sockets glow with balefire, their exposed ribs crackle with necrotic energy, and their elongated fangs drip with spectral frost.
Legends claim Dire Wolves were once royal hunting hounds, twisted by centuries of dark magic into monstrous predators. Now they serve the Deathlords, Gravebound Knights, and Necromancers of the Gothic Undead, racing ahead of the main host to tear apart scouts, harass flanks, and drag screaming victims into the mist. Wherever their howls echo, doom follows.
Dire Wolves act as fast‑moving shock units, ideal for:
-
Flank harassment
-
Chasing down fleeing enemies
-
Screening undead infantry
-
Disrupting enemy formations
Their speed and ferocity make them perfect for early‑game pressure, objective contesting, and forcing opponents to react to sudden, terrifying threats. Commanders field Dire Wolves when they need relentless, supernatural predators capable of turning open ground into a killing field.
