Gothic Undead — Giant Bats

The Giant Bats are the Gothic Undead’s airborne swarms, monstrous chiropteran predators raised from cavern crypts and necrotic roosts deep beneath ancient grave‑cities. Their wings stretch wide and ragged, membranes torn and re‑knit by spectral sinew. Their fangs drip with grave‑rot, their claws gleam with necromantic frost, and their hollow eyes burn with balefire hunger.

Unlike the regal Winged Horrors, Giant Bats are feral and instinct‑driven. They swarm in packs, dive from the darkness, and tear into flesh with frenzied brutality. Necromancers bind them through runes of hunger, Gravebound Knights use them as aerial outriders, and Vampire Generals unleash them to sow chaos before the main host arrives.

Where their shrieks echo, terror spreads.

Giant Bats act as fast, swarming aerial infantry, ideal for:

• Harassing flanks and backlines from above

• Diving onto vulnerable targets with sudden strikes

• Screening elite undead with airborne pressure

• Disrupting enemy formations through fear and mobility

• Supporting Winged Horrors with massed aerial presence

Commanders field Giant Bats when they need swift, expendable aerial troops capable of overwhelming foes through speed and numbers.
