Description

Narrative Beat

The Armored Spearmen clattered into formation with admirable discipline—an impressive moment slightly spoiled when one goblin whispered, “If something charges us, I’m pretending to be a stalagmite,” and everyone agreed this was a solid plan.

Lore

Under Mountain Goblin Armored Spearmen are the stalwart defenders of the deep caverns. Unlike their more excitable kin, these goblins train relentlessly to hold tunnel chokepoints, brace against charging beasts, and maintain formation even when the ceiling looks like it might fall.

Their armor is forged from cavern‑ore plates, fungus‑cured leather, and scavenged metal hammered into surprisingly effective protection. Their spears are long, jagged, and designed for tight‑corridor combat—perfect for keeping enemies at bay while heavier units reposition.

They embody classic cave‑goblin phalanx infantry, subterranean shield‑wall troops, and defensive melee specialists, giving the Under Mountain faction a durable, reliable frontline anchor.

Tactical Role

Armored Spearmen serve as defensive melee infantry, excelling at:

Holding narrow tunnel chokepoints
Bracing against charges from beasts and heavy infantry
Supporting Swordmen with disciplined formations
Creating spear‑walls that restrict enemy movement

Commanders field them when they need durable defensive troops, formation‑based melee units, or cavern‑phalanx specialists across any fantasy system.
